Your day starts with breakfast where you’ll enjoy fresh bread and croissants from the local boulangerie, yoghurt from the laiterie, overnight oats, and eggs from Babs, Jasmine, Mavis and Martha.

After breakfast we move over to the barn for class. With only 7 participants on the course, everyone gets a chance to play every day for 30 minutes. The class is taken by Ann or Helen on alternate days.

With such intensive work, food is important fuel. Homemade cake is served with mid-morning coffee (fruit is also available) and we stop for lunch after the second class. The afternoon is yours to do as you choose. This might include your own practice on the many pianos dotted around Le Maillard, a private lesson with Ann or Helen, swimming in the pool at Le Presbytère or the option of a trip out to a beautiful nearby town like Bourdeilles or to the ‘Domaine de Pettignac’ with its marvellous collection of instruments.

We meet again at Apéro hour for drinks. We may have a talk at this point, covering some area of pianistic interest, or there might be a concert by a visiting young artist. In 2024 we were delighted to welcome Misha Kaploukhii from Russia, Diana Cooper from France and Magdalene Ho from Malaysia and we hope to hear them again at Le Maillard in 2025. Alternatively it might be your turn to perform! We have various venues where concerts take place in a warm and friendly setting.
Following this, it’s time to eat again. All food and wine is included in the course fee and we love to see our guests enjoying the local produce of this beautiful country.
